To tackle disease we need evidence to be generated through every type of health research study. This conference aimed to bring together health research teams, organisations, health-workers, policy makers and practitioners to explore together how health research can be embedded into every healthcare setting. The Global Health Network also celebrated 10 years of mobilising research skills, know-how and methods to foster capable teams that generate new treatment strategies and prevention mechanisms that reduce the burden of disease within communities. Recorded sessions can be viewed on the conference page. Day 2 Session 7: Generating New Evidence from Data Related to Health discussed data use and management and may be of particular interest. |
New guidance promotes equity and restoring balance to transform the global research partnership ecosystem/Nouveau rapport soutenant l’équité et un rétablissement de l’équilibre pour transformer l’écosysteme des partenariats de recherche internationaux
The UKCDR and ESSENCE on Health Research’s Good Practice Document, ‘Four Approaches to Supporting Equitable Research Partnerships’, was published on 20th September in both English and French.
The Good Practice Document aims to support equity in research partnerships by assisting funders, research organizations and researchers to improve their ways of working in multi-country research consortia, particularly in relation to low- and middle- income country (LMIC) contexts.

To launch the guidance, UKCDR & ESSENCE on Health Research are hosting a virtual event at the Science Summit of United Nations General Assembly 77 (UNGA77) on 26 September 2022. Published in the Trials journal, highlighting how we are working to provide open access tools and resources for health research teams in need of support and guidance to design and run their own studies, particularly in low-resource settings.

The Global Health Network was at the Tenth EDCTP Forum, 18 October – 21 October 2021
In an interactive workshop we provided an in-depth look at the Hub through a live demo before participants shared their experiences of accessing materials to support development of high-quality protocols, and managing and sharing study data, and what they thought of the resources on the EDCTP Knowledge Hub.
The Global Health Network also presented posters and had a virtual stand at the Forum.

The Global Health Network was at the 12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH), 28 September – 1 October 2021
The congress theme was Global challenges in health, migration and equity. Our poster presentation as part of ECTMIH Track 3 Program on Malaria, parasitic, vector-borne and neglected tropical infectious diseases was on The EDCTP Knowledge Hub: Developing an open platform for facilitating high quality clinical research

Platforms & registries for sharing participant-level clinical-epidemiological, OMICs & imaging data14/07/21 In the research and public health response to COVID-19, there has been a rush to share data, marked by an explosion of population- and discipline-specific registries. Data sharing platforms, which generally predate the COVID-19 pandemic, have been expanded to include different types of COVID-19-related data. In this webinar, we present a comprehensive, living overview of COVID-19-related platforms and registries for sharing participant-level clinical-epidemiological, OMICs, and imaging data and review the interoperability of data sharing efforts and how these initiatives map to best practice for ethical, equitable, and effective data sharing and application of the FAIR Principles for managing data resources. EDCTP and The Global Health Network organised two webinars to present and elicit feedback on the EDCTP Knowledge Hub. The webinars were open to anyone interested in learning more about the tools and resources available at EDCTP Knowledge Hub.
The first of these two webinars, on data management and sharing, took place on 30 November 2020, and the second webinar, on tools and guidance for protocol development, was held on 25 February 2021. The recordings and reports can be found below.
