Data sharing, particularly of potentially sensitive information, is not always straightforward. To support you during the process we have created this Data Sharing Toolkit, collating practical information and resources related to the topic.
Before you deposit your data, you will need to ensure that they can be understood and reused by others: it is essential that you prepare and describe the data well. Ideally, you want to start thinking about the end goal – data sharing – early on, and revise your plans throughout the entire life of the project.
To help you identify areas that need your consideration we have put together Data Management Basics. You will find explanations covering different aspects of working with data there: from a list of free version control tools, through explanation of metadata, to real-life examples of data problems encountered by data managers handling clinical data.
In the Data Sharing Steps you will find an overview of the core elements of the process of depositing your data into a repository. In order to aid you in choosing a suitable repository to submit to, we have created Repository Finder.
We have also collated an extensive collection of resources linked to working with and sharing data. From webinars on FAIR principles, through guides on consent, to e-Learning courses on reproducibility - there should be something for everyone.
